Full Metal Jacket 2 / Return To Hué (USA / NY)

1968. After years of fighting between the South Vietnamese and US against the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese, a cease-fire is agreed upon for the New Year holiday known as “Tet”. Instead of sending their forces home to relax, the NVA and Viet Cong launch a massive attack across the south, hitting almost every military target and city they could. In all areas, the ARVN and US Forces were able to quickly defeat the Viet Cong attackers and restore order; all except for in one city.
In Hue, NVA and Viet Cong forces managed to capture most of the city. US Marines were attacked in the MACV Compound while the ARVN 1st Division were besieged in the northern part of the city, cut off from the rest of their forces. The Marines and ARVN forces would have to fight their way across the besieged city, taking back every building and block before being able to relieve their comrads. It would be one of the bloodiest battles of the entire war in Vietnam, the world watching to see who would stand when the dust settles.
